To foster a strong sense of community by actively engaging residents, advocating for neighborhood needs, and working collaboratively to maintain a safe, attractive, and
inclusive living environment.
WHNA board meetings are all open to the public and participation is encouraged. We always reserve time at the beginning of every meeting for guests to the meeting to share ideas, concerns or bring an opportunity to the attention of the board. All are welcome.
The Association board meeting is held every first Thursday of the month at the YMCA on Maple St. From 5:45-6:45pm at the chapel meeting room. Please note: If you do not have YMCA membership, you must present government issued ID card to enter the building.
The Westnedge Hill Neighborhood Association is composed of residents and members of the business community who volunteer to serve the neighborhood. We coordinate our efforts to improve Westnedge Hill as driven by our strategic plan, provide a forum for issues that affect us, keep the community informed about relevant proposals and activities, cooperate with other organizations on common issues, and organize community building events.
We are currently seeking someone interested in our rich local history with a passion to share them with the neighborhood. If that person is you, please drop us a line!
Please reach us at westnedgehillneighborhood@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The Westnedge Hill Neighborhood Association is dedicated to organizing and supporting an open and welcoming community forum where neighbors and community stakeholders can meet to discuss challenges and opportunities that present to our neighborhood, and encourage neighbors to develop strategies that lead the neighborhood towards solutions that benefit neighbors, our community, and the City of Kalamazoo.
The Association provides an important layer of local organization that is intermediate between an individual household or business, or an individual apartment complex, and the much larger and yet more diffuse forum offered by other city-wide institutions. Through the Association, neighbors can gather to voice shared concerns and provide feedback from the perspective of the neighborhood as a whole. Where a condominium complex might have a condo association board, or an apartment complex might have a management company, a neighborhood of independent homes may not have any intermediate level of relationships or accountability to help manage problems that affect more than one individual, but perhaps do not rise to the level of involving city-wide resources or governance. The Association exists in part to help with community coordination at this intermediate level.
We are still in our infancy , we would like to hear from YOU on what kind of activities the neighborhood association should help organize. Please complete our survey or submit an proposal!
We are not affiliated with the organizations behind the neighborhood Facebook pages or Next Door pages. Currently WHNA does not have any official presence on any social media platform. Occasionally our members may repost events organized by WHNA.
Currently The Neighborhood Association is funded on generous donations. Certain events may be partially funded by partner organizations such as the city and various non-profit organizations. We are just getting started, funding sources may change in the future.
We are re-establishing the Westnedge Hill Neighborhood Association! As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we were created by residents like YOU to connect, share ideas, and foster a safe, inclusive neighborhood. We’re looking for new members to join us in making Westnedge Hill even better. If you’re interested in being part of something special, consider signing up to be on our contact list!
